I wanted to show you a little bit about why we produced our summertime checking out program.
For me, it was because of my students.

Often they were simply a little bit behind, sometimes they were method behind, and in some cases they were at grade level and just wanted to advance faster.

How could I get these students' abilities up while not just offering a band-aid solution?

I found that using graphic organizers helps students find the main point and details, sequence occasions, and arrange their ideas to improve their understanding. Students could finally comprehend and picture what they read.
I found that most words in English follow 8 particular spelling patterns and when you discover the patterns, spelling becomes simpler and spelling finally makes sense.
I discovered that brain-body activities improve neuroplasticity and equate to making discovering simpler in all areas.

I create a program of these findings into brief 5-20 minute daily activities that I might do with my trainees.
It wasn't long prior to my students and moms and dads began seeing significant results. Students that were behind by 1-2 years typically got up to grade level in 2-4 months.
Teachers started to ask what I was making with these kids. Parents wished to know what the magic sauce was.
I knew I needed to make my program offered to more trainees no matter where they live. I needed to make the program in a manner that moms and dads can do it with their kids on their schedule in the house.
This is why I established the summer season reading program.

The program does take some participation from a moms and dad for grades K-2, but for grades 3-8, most kids can do most activities in the program on their own.
