I wanted to share with you a bit about why we developed our summer reading program.
For me, it was because of my trainees.
For many years of teaching in my personal learning center, moms and dads would bring their children to me that lagged in reading and spelling.

In some cases they were simply a little bit behind, often they were way behind, and sometimes they were at grade level and simply wished to progress quicker.
Sometimes this was because the trainees had learning problems like dyslexia and ADHD. Other times, this was just since the instructors did not teach all of the particular skills required to check out.
